A man who had, up until recently, been recovering in a hospital was formally arrested for his role in a fatal accident in the Riverside area. The accident left four people dead.

According to authorities, the man was traveling in one direction on a city street while a car with four friends was oncoming from the opposite direction. The four friends were returning home from a nearby airport after one of them had arrived back in the area following a trip.

According to police, the man attempted a left turn but could not keep control of his vehicle. He instead collided with the friends’ car that was coming from the opposite direction. Two other cars were also involved in the aftermath of the crash, although there were no injuries reported with respect to those vehicles.

All four of the occupants of the friends’ car died at the scene of the accident. Presumably, the man was also significantly hurt since he spent weeks recovering in the hospital before his arrest. Among other charges, he will face allegations of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, as police claim they have information that the man was under either the influence of alcohol or drugs the time of the accident.

Although it is too early at this stage to know how this man intends to deal with the charges against him, this case still serves as an important reminder that any Riverside resident can wind up facing charges of this nature. All it would take is a drink or two followed by a bad accident, which may not even be the person’s fault, and the person is facing years in prison.

Responding to charges like these effectively is important, which is why it is usually advisable to have the help of an experienced Riverside criminal law attorney in doing so.
